Life in lockdown

Each day we speak to a journalist about their new normal.

Today we hear from Helen Davies, Property Editor of The Times and The Sunday Times.

Where are you working from right now?
My living room. I tried the kitchen for the first two weeks but have moved to get the fewest distractions and better day light. It’s also good to move around the flat a bit.

What’s your new morning routine?
Cup of tea. A second cup of tea. Catching up on the news and then a 10.30 google hangout with the team.

Have you got dressed today?
Yes.

How has your working week changed since Covid-19 hit?
It has become more intense with less ebb and flow.

What are the current plans for filling your pages?
Same as always! Best ideas done the best way we can.

What does a work lunch look like these days?
Same as always! Sandwich/soup/salad at the laptop. I have ambitions to take it to the garden.

What’s the biggest challenge for your desk/publication right now?
Being relevant whilst keeping earlier deadlines, plus simply staying in touch with people and the team.

Has anything positive come out of this?
People outside our sector realising and recognising that home and the way we live behind closed doors and as a community is important.

What’s your top tip for PRs right now?
Stay in touch. Be honest.

What’s your comeback plan?
Same as always! Best ideas done the best way we can. I want us to be the go to place for inspiration, aspiration, advice and analysis.
