How not to make a City Editor feel loved
The email from the “senior managing director” of a top City PR firm makes the following offer.
Would we be interested in an op-ed column for this Sunday by (insert name of FTSE 100 CEO) ?
We’ll assume that the senior managing director knows the Evening Standard doesn’t publish on Sunday.
Which suggests this offer was sent to everyone at the same time/has already been rejected by the papers that do publish on Sunday.
On one hand this sort of stuff isn’t that big a deal. Quite funny, in a way. On the other, it looks a bit careless and hardly makes the recipient feel special.
I’m not saying I’ve never sent an email in error. I do give them a read first though.
