What's going on?

Food Club is three interactive sessions with leading food journalists. The talks will cover the the crossover between health and food stories, the stories editors are looking to publish, from personal food narratives to chef interviews and trend pieces.

Why attend?

Roxhill’s Food Club will give you the opportunity to speak to journalists who are difficult to contact, and drill down into the details of exactly the kind of stories that excite them. We’ll also discuss when, what, and how to pitch.

Who will be there?

We’re gathering three food editors and writers working across some of the UK’s top-ranking titles, including national newspapers The Times, Good Food, Olive, Broadsheet, Foodism & HTSI.

Q&A: What food audiences want to read about now

Speaker: Hannah Evans, Deputy Food Editor, The Times                  Time: 9am – 10am

The way publications cover food is changing. With fewer non-recipe pages to fill, food stories have to work harder than ever. We’ll be joined by Hannah Evans, Deputy Food Editor at The Times & Sunday Times to discuss the types of stories that newspaper editors are looking to publish at the moment, from personal food narratives to chef interviews and trend pieces. She’ll also talk about the best practice for pitching and how you can make your email stand out in a journalist’s inbox.

Q&A: What does the overlapping of food and health sections mean for PRs?

Speaker: Emma Hartfield, Health Editor, Good Food & Olive                      Time: 10:15–11:15am
Price: £50

As Good Food and Olive magazines expand their health coverage, we’ll be joined by Emma Hartfield to dig into the crossover between health and food stories, and explain how to spin either type of story to make it relevant for their audience. From nutrition, GLP1s and functional foods, there will be lots to get our teeth into, plus Emma will cover how she and the team like to work with PRs and the best way to communicate your stories to her.

We’ll get into:

  • Ways chefs can add meaningful commentary to news stories
