What's going on?

Health Club is three interactive Q&A sessions with leading health and wellbeing journalists. The talks will cover pitching data/data stories to health journalists, men’s fitness stories and health features to newspapers.

Why attend?

Roxhill’s Health Club will give you the opportunity to speak to journalists who are difficult to contact, and drill down into the details of exactly the kind of stories that excite them. We’ll also discuss when, what, and how to pitch.

Who will be there?

We’re gathering three health editors and writers working across some of the UK’s top-ranking titles, including national newspapers The Times, The Telegraph, Men’s Health and GQ.

Q&A: How to pitch data/data stories to health journalists

Speaker: Alice Wilkinson, Deputy Head of Health Features, The Telegraph
Time: 9:00–10:00am
Price: £50

As data increases in importance across the newsroom we speak to Alice Wilkinson on the Telegraph’s Health desk about how her team are using data, why it’s integral to the stories they are publishing, how they want to build relationships with organisations that hold insightful data and the ways they want comms teams to be pitching it to them. She’ll also take us through the best of her recent coverage where outside data was an integral part of the commissioning process.

* Please note that to attend each session, you must book and pay for each ticket separately.

Q&A: How to pitch men's fitness stories

Speaker: Phil Hilton, Freelance Fitness Writer, The Times, The Telegraph, GQ and Men’s Health                                                                           Time: 10:15–11:15am
Price: £50

As national newspaper audiences continue to be dominated by male readers, the demand for men’s fitness content isn’t going anywhere. Phil Hilton joins us to highlight what the titles he writes for are looking for in a men’s fitness story, the kind of themes that are resonating with editors and audiences right now, the topics he’s most interested in personally, and the elements he and his commissioning editors are looking for in every pitch they receive.

* Please note that to attend each session, you must book and pay for each ticket separately.

Q&A: How to pitch health features to newspapers

Speaker: Peta Bea, Health and Wellbeing Contributor, The Times and The Sunday Times
Time: 11:30am – 12:30pm
Price: £50

The appetite for health content in the nationals shows no sign of waning, but there are topics which have been exhausted, and areas that teams are no longer keen to cover. We’re joined by Peta Bee, one of the UK’s best health journalists, who will help us understand what the primary up and coming topics for health coverage are, the angles that work best for reactionary stories and longer-form features, and how PRs should be pitching their stories both to Peta herself and the editors who are commissioning her.

* Please note that to attend each session, you must book and pay for each ticket separately.
