Each day we speak to a journalist about their new normal, today we hear from Alicia Miller.

Where are you working from right now?
My East London flat. I’ve bagged the sunny spare room and its sofa for my new ‘office’ – my husband gets the kitchen table.

What’s your new morning routine?
I’m trying to keep to a schedule so I wake up at the same time as normal – 7:30 – and fit in some yoga, HIIT, reading or cleaning before landing at my ‘desk’ at 10am. My husband starts work an hour before I do and sorts breakfast, which gets me moving.

Have you got dressed today?
Er, yes….but in athleisure wear, obviously. Will I ever be able to wear normal clothes again? I’m not sure.

How has your working week changed since Covid-19 hit?
Our content has massively shuffled around so we spent the first week or so of the issue pretty hectic. But we’re getting into a nice rhythm with things now. The most interesting thing is all of us learning how to use this new, remote-working tech! Our first STTM team Google Hangouts call was something to behold….

What are the current plans for filling your pages?
We’ve essentially ripped up the usual format of our June and July issues and started from scratch – rather than our regular sections, we’ll be running a two-part special edition. Think of it as your ultimate future planner: all those dreamy destinations that you’ve always wanted to visit – whether in 2021 or beyond – and how to get them right.

What does a work lunch look like these days?
Soup and salad so far – I prefer to save myself for indulgent dinners. But I baked muffins this morning (dangerous) and it’s only a matter of time before my will power totally crumbles and I’m on the frozen pizzas…

What’s the biggest challenge for your desk/publication right now?
Adjusting to working remotely. Coming up with a new system for reading proofs and amending pages has been tricky, but we’re making it happen.
