Roxhill's new virtual speed-pitching sessions are in full swing.
Here’s what some of our recent pitchers have said about their speed pitching experience. Click on the right-hand testimonials to scroll through…
It was such a useful exercise and hopefully Lisa took on board some of my ideas. The whole process was very smooth and was a brilliant way to pitch to busy and time poor journalists.
Ella Fousler, Gemma Bell Having five minutes face-to-face with a journalist makes pitching so much easier! The five minute time limit forces you to boil your ideas down, which is useful in itself, and saves the journalist lots of time wading through lengthy emails. Being able to see their reactions, chat and brainstorm ideas together really changes the process, and can provide some great feedback for clients too.
Siena Clark, The Brand Whisperer It was great to meet other PRs in the waiting room, and share thoughts/stories/ideas. Harriet was great, and was all charged and ready for speedy PR changeovers. Another great session.
Anonymous Just done a speed pitching session with Lisa Markwell, Food Editor at The Sunday Times. Brilliant initiative altogether from Roxhill these speed pitching events and I hope will continue after we emerge, blinking, into the light of no-lockdowns. Any good idea is only worth its salt if you can explain it in under a minute; so to get a quick chat with key media, talk over one or two ideas and follow up off-line is perfect.
Tim Fordham-Moss, WixHill After a year of no face-to-face meetings, it was so wonderful to be able to speak with Lisa Grainger and network with fellow PRs. Roxhill gave me the opportunity to pitch my clients to Lisa and to start building a relationship with a key travel editor. I found the whole experience very beneficial, thank you Roxhill!
Britney Sullivan, Mason Rose I really like this idea from @roxhillmedia because: 1. it's ridiculously good value; 2. it's all about the story quality; 3. it's really hard to get a journalist 1:1, more so if you have no relationship. This levels the playing field.
Andy Turner, Journalist I thought it was excellent. I have to confess to being quite nervous beforehand, even though I knew Lisa slightly, but the team at Roxhill put us all at our ease. Of course it helped that Lisa is such a nice person and was informal and relaxed. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and having the opportunity to share lockdown experiences with the other participants, but also yourself and your colleague, who managed the technicalities of the whole thing brilliantly. I found the Speed Pitching briefing documents you prepared for the session helpful.
Alix Robinson Brand Strategy and Communications The speed pitching sessions were an excellent chance to get my foot in the door with journalists and editors that I would otherwise have struggled to speak to one-on-one. It gave me really helpful insight into what those journalists and publications were looking for, and created a great opportunity to secure placements for relevant clients.
Cleo Chaisty, Sweet Digital The speed pitching session organised by Roxhill was excellent. I was admittedly a bit nervous beforehand, pitching over zoom was completely new for me, but it was a really positive experience. Not only did it force me to really have to focus on pulling out my clients’ most newsworthy stories, but also having to crystallise 3 feature angles into a 5 minute pitching session was a great exercise. It was also invaluable getting instant feedback from Rosie, as she gave me more ideas to explore too around my topics. It was so much better than sending out a feature idea on email and hoping for a reply!
Sally Keeble, Mercer PR I loved the speed pitching experience, it was so good to connect with the Roxhill team, other PRs and the lovely Lisa Grainger. Being based in Cornwall – and with the current travel restrictions – it’s invaluable to have an opportunity to get in front of high profile journalists, and a darn sight cheaper than the plane ticket. The whole thing is incredibly well curated and Lisa was very receptive to ideas. I would highly recommend it.
