Try It

My mother’s friend once described me as a ‘journalist (non serious).’ Whilst war correspondents have to dodge snipers, and food writers fear the wrath of dissed chefs, aerial yoga is about as dangerous as it gets for a beauty/health/wellness writer.

Sometimes (okay all the time) I feel like a skiver. As I skip from hair rehab treatment to getting my lash liner tattooed via another arduous spa treatment I can’t help but think – how can work be this much fun? Surely there needs to be more blood, sweat and tears.

Surely more hours chained to my desk?

Some dude (the author is hotly contested) once wrote ‘choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life’ and in my case (and I hope yours) – it’s true.

On a day of such appointments yesterday, I went to Dr. Tracy Mountford at The Cosmetic Skin Clinic. She is a genius with a needle, incredibly skilled at injecting Botox and filler to give super subtle results. Whilst she was wiping a year of stress from my face – we chatted about new treatments and procedures that she had heard about/were coming to the clinic. Just our back and forth about gave me three features ideas.

(N.B I made sure not to chat whilst she was actually injecting me. That would be fool hardy.)

It made me realise the importance of consciously recognising who you click with and who is on your wavelength. That way, far from being a waste, you will both gain from your meeting. Professionally and personally.
