Glastonbury Is A Go
After a three year hiatus, the gates have opened at Worthy Farm again, and Glastonbury is go. I’ll be watching it from my sofa, but the memories are still fresh from 2019, a golden conflation of stellar music, excellent weather, perfect company and swanky accommodation, courtesy of a certain rubber boot brand that’s become synonymous with the festival thanks to Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and a slew of other high profile fans. |
Well, that, and a lot of clever marketing: in 2013, it gave away thousands of orange wellies to festival goers as a means of making its presence felt. Unlike Coachella, Glastonbury doesn’t partner with any fashion brands, so if they want to be seen, they have to get creative. I’ve even heard tales of celebrities being paid four figure sums to be photographed briefly in certain labels. By and large, though, the fashion at Glastonbury is organic, with an authenticity that other festivals lack. It will be watched the world over, because Britain still leads the way with street (and festival) style. PRs should be watching it avidly, too, scouring Getty for photos to identify trends that media outlets might not pick up on – particularly as worn by non-celebrity attendees. I predict a fair few retro, seventies looks, but let’s see… |
