The fashion shows are almost upon us.
Four weeks, four cities. Thousands of trends created and showcased.
I did the circuit for ten years. Loved it. Got the (Chloé) t shirt. Hid under a make-up artist’s desk backstage at Versace whilst Donatella had stern words with some very late models. Was there at Tom Ford’s final show for Gucci when petals rained down from the ceiling.
Now I don’t go. Don’t need to for the writing I do. But it’s still useful for me to know what’s going on.
So someone doing the hard work of a trends round up is always appreciated. And for PR’s it’s often a good way to make their brands feel relevant and luxe.
But what makes me click on one show round up over another?
Clear trends that feel authentic not fabricated. And not too many of them.
A short interview with the hairdresser/make-up artist/designer – with quotes on their thought processes/inspiration. Quotes that make you feel someone was there, in real time, talking to them, rather than made up by the PR team to fit a brand vision.
Plus a practical how to get the look.
And good quality images of models that I can use free of charge.
It also needs to be beautifully laid out.
Not much to ask then….
And I, for one, am grateful my days of hiding under desks are over.
