The biggest PR job going

As PR professionals, you are used to dealing with difficult clients.

A milk company whose products make babies sick? Not a problem

Self-driving cars that self-dive into brick walls? Bring it on

Planes that reverse into mountains? Seen it, done it, got the strategy document right here

This one might be tougher. Since it seems the entire nation of Germany is badly in need of some skilled flakery.

Can you do PR for an entire country? Well, why not. When France, Luxembourg and Papua New Guinea were making post-Brexit noises about usurping the City of London they all had PR people doing the rounds.

And very fine lunches they were.

Some recent German related headlines from publications including The New York Times, The Spectator, The Guardian and the FT:

Germany, once a powerhouse, is at an economic standstill.

Is Germany the sick man of Europe?

Germany was worst-performing major economy last year.

Germany in “permanent crisis mode”.

Permanent crisis.

Really? The news gives the idea that should you arrive in Germany you will be greeted by hordes of starving peasants.

I think smart chaps in BMWs is more likely.

Still, there’s a PR pitch to be made.

Olaf Scholz awaits your call.

Press release of the day

Most of us don’t want pick our own pension schemes – we want our employers to do it for us, says this from the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association.

This research follows the government’s announcement of a Lifetime Provider model for workplace retirement schemes.

The PLSA finds that 69% of staff would rather not take the responsibility for something so complex, rising to 85% for those over 55.

So much for pension freedoms…
