How often do flaks study the news diary, the week ahead guides, and use them to measure when might be a good time to pitch a story idea?
From here, it doesn’t look like very many do, because still too many offers come in, whether there’s a banking crisis and 15 FTSE 100 companies reporting results, or whether the only sound in the newsroom is tumbleweed.
If you look at our results guide at the bottom, you’ll see that there is almost nothing scheduled for tomorrow.
Among forward planning news editors that will already be causing slight jitters. Stuff might crop up, it often does. Or star reporters might bring in scoops.
Beyond that, well, we’re open to good ideas, especially if they are targeted specifically to us rather than spammed across all of Fleet Street and beyond.
On rolling stories – Deutsche Bank, Woodford, trade talks – we’re keen for angles no one has set spotted. Implications we haven’t yet considered…
The flip side of this, of course, is that tomorrow is not a good day to bury bad news. A company failure might get more publicity than it really deserves, just because the news list looks so thin.
